In the remote northern reaches of Brazil lay Lençóis Maranhenses, one of the world’s most dramatic and ethereal landscapes. This vast expanse of rolling sand dunes, interrupted only by shimmering freshwater lagoons, emerged for just a few months each year as the rainy season subsided and groundwater surfaced. The spectacle was fleeting, as the lagoons disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Nestled by a lake in the village of Santo Amaro, our house offered an exclusive base to explore this breathtaking scenery. Guests traversed the dunes by foot, car, boat, or quad, savored the tranquil beauty of the lagoons, and indulged in water sports under the equatorial sun. The experience was as serene as it was exhilarating, with accommodations, transfers, meals, and excursions all thoughtfully arranged.
